Information about the project "Promise Fulfilled" (2023)

Since childhood, my grandfather was one of the people who shaped me most deeply. He taught me the value of humour and showed me that life should be more than mere functioning. In difficult moments, he was a calm and steady presence.

When I was young, I asked him to make me a promise: that he would live to be 100. In July 2023, at the age of 103, I decided to make a small portrait series of him in his home. The familiar setting, together with the consistent use of the same backdrop, whose textured surface may evoke scars, became part of the work’s visual language.

Rather than attempting to summarise a life, the series remains close to ageing, vulnerability, dignity and farewell. He died in September 2023.
